Each year we reach out to our Alumni to help keep the future of Catholic Education alive in Leavenworth County. Please consider giving today to make a difference in the lives of the youth attending Xavier in 2024!

Dear Friends,

Another trip around the sun means I have another opportunity to share the good things happening at Xavier as I write my annual Mary Queen of Victory appeal.

Near the end of the school year, I was privileged to witness the spring musical and band performance. I was blown away by Xavier’s talented students. Kate Peltzer, Music and Choir Director and Laura Schleef, Band Director, completely outdid themselves. This was one of the best evenings of entertainment, fellowship, and appreciation of our students’ God-given talents. The students’ voices were Angelic and the band rivaled AC/DC or Lawrence Welk. Now, I share this so you can mark your calendar; you will not want to miss the 2024-25 performance in May, or even better, the Christmas program scheduled for December 10th, 2024.

Although the band and music program are very important to Xavier, so are the teachers, staff, students, families and alumni. Across the board the students at Xavier exceed expectations in their academic studies, their growth in virtue and their dedication to good friendships.

This does not happen by accident rather, it is the constant effort and planning from our dedicated teachers and staff. When I use the word “dedicated”, I wholeheartedly mean it.

Some of our teachers and staff are alumni of Xavier and IMAC who have chosen to return to become part of our Xavier community, some even staying for decades. This dedication, along with the strong leadership of our Board of Trustees, has made Xavier what it is today. The magic of the music program is just a small glimpse of the daily magic happening at Xavier.

Now, don’t worry, as great as Xavier is now, the truth is, it has always been!

Alumni Spotlights:
Larkin Reilly made her Broadway debut in New York City, singing and dancing in Bad Cinderella.

Mark Mitchell played two years at Duke and has transferred to the University of Missouri Basketball team for his junior year.

Dr. Mike Brigg and six classmates from the class of 1995. Joel Bakian, Robert Hart, Conor Knightly, Steven Knoch, Geoff Schillare, and Matthew Hund attended as Matt McDonough was promoted to Brigadier General. You don’t find that level of accomplishment with that kind of support every day.

After spending two years playing Volleyball at the University of Kansas, Karli Schmidt will play out her eligibility at Mississippi State. Karli led the team in kills in her junior year.

Recently, in the Leaven (the Archdiocesan newspaper) an article was written about eight young men from Kansas State University who have been friends since grade school. All eight graduated from Xavier Catholic School in Leavenworth. They are Quinn O’Donnell, Shane Sachse, Erick Sanford, Carson Schroeder, Andrew and Adam Schwinn, Jared Baker, and Jake Heim. What a treasure to have catholic young men showing the world how to be Christ-like. And just think, it all started because their parents chose Xavier Catholic School.

Whether it is Brigadier General Matt Mcdonough's squadron or the K-State eight, having the love of Christ through friendships, opening our hearts to His presence, and allowing His teachings to guide our lives, Xavier will continue to produce outstanding students and future leaders with your continued support.

Your donation to Xavier continues to make a difference in the lives of our students, teachers, and parents. We wouldn’t be who we are without you. Thank you again for your trust in our mission.

Sincerely In Christ,

Mike Connelly
